Here at Rainier Foot & Ankle, we are on the cutting edge of technology and products as one of the only podiatry clinics in the Pacific Northwest to offer 3D Custom Printed Orthotics from Go-4D. As part of our commitment to innovation, our clinic offers 3D foot scanning with dynamic gait analysis to enable both orthotic recommendations and 3D-printed custom orthotics. Dr. Christopher Bock will analyze your findings and prescribe a 3D-printed custom orthotic just for you.

About 3D Orthotics

3D orthotics are medical devices that are worn inside your shoes to correct biomechanical foot issues that affect the way you walk, run, or stand. 3D Orthotics have set a new standard in treatment, pain relief, and comfort, and they widely vary from over-the-counter and standard orthotics for feet.

These orthotics are effective in treating pain caused by medical conditions such as plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, and bunions. 3D Printed Orthotics have also been successful in alleviating knee pain and lower back pain that may not have been otherwise corrected with bracing or other treatment options.

Foot Conditions Treated

3D-printed custom orthotics have been successful in treating many foot conditions at our Enumclaw clinic including:

  • Bunions: A bony bump that forms on the joint at the base of the big toe
  • Arthritis: Inflammation of one or more joints, causing stiffness and pain
  • Tendonitis: Inflammation of the tissue connecting muscle to bone
  • High Arches: An abnormally raised arch of the foot
  • Diabetic Neuropathy: Nerve damage that can occur with diabetes
  • Bursitis: Inflammation of the joint cushions
  • Plantar Fasciitis: Inflammation of the heel that runs along the bottom of the foot
  • Metatarsalgia: Pain in the front of your foot, just below 2nd and 3rd toes
  • Heel Spurs: A bony growth that develops around the heel bone
  • Flat Feet: Underdeveloped arches

The use of 3D orthotics has also been useful in reducing some causes of lower back pain and knee pain. These custom inserts for shoes manage back pain by stabilizing and improving the position of the feet, which improves the person’s overall gait.

There have been several studies where knee function has been shown to improve with the help of 3D custom foot orthotics. When the arches are supported, they force the legs and ankles into proper alignment, which reduces twisting of the knee and wear and tear on the knee joint. 3D-printed custom orthotics for shoes can also help to prevent sports injuries and, as well as improve sports performance.

Why Go-4D Orthotics?

The lattice-design of the 3D-printed custom orthotic is superior in every way because they are lightweight and comfortable while helping to correct the biomechanical problems that lead to pain and discomfort.

Every 3D Printed Orthotic is created from start to finish with the individual client in mind and their lattice-design helps our Pedorthist, to design a device that offers a level of precision and comfort impossible to find in standard “old” orthotic options. Our 3D Orthotics are thin and light-weight, so they comfortably fit in most footwear and don’t have the bulkiness of the standard over-the-counter options.

For areas of the foot where more biomechanical control is needed, the 3D printer fills the lattice-spaces of the orthotic without making it thicker or heavier. If the foot requires a mixture of more or less support or flexibility at various points, 3D printing can accommodate. The thickness of the lattice framework is easily adjusted to meet your individual needs using state-of-the-art HP 3D printing technology.
